Survey Barcelona

This series is part of a collective commission from the Barcelona City Council with the aim of offering a photographic look of Barcelona and the urban interventions made during the last years. Contrary to what has been done in similar projects in former years, in which different photographers were assigned different areas of the city, each of us has been working now on a distinct aspect of the urban landscape (green spaces, tough public spaces, buildings…), without being restricted to a particular section or district.
My task has been to portray the interiors of the city-administered houses whilst giving an account of the diversity in the uses and appropriations of the spaces. Although it hasn’t always been easy due to the understandable resistances you sometimes face when intruding into a private home, the job has been highly rewarding as it allowed me to discover and explore a lot of different realities (people, spaces) that would otherwise remain unknown to me.

Along with the works of the rest of the photographers, part of the series is shown on the main site of the City Council. It also resulted in a book. On the other hand, the whole series it was also published, alone, in a book and will turn into an exhibition. Both the book and the exhibition are developed by aq4 arquitectura.
